Can I work picking fruit in New Zealand? You certainly can! Fruit picking, thinning and packing are common jobs that gappers and backpackers take up while on a Working Holiday in New Zealand.
The work is very hard and you don't usually get paid much (unless you're very fast!) but it's a great way to meet other travellers and hang out in some of the warmer and sunnier fruit growing areas. Popular places include Nelson and Marlborough at the top of the South Island and Otago, near Queenstown in the south.
